THE LIST I'D ALREADY BEEN THROUGH
If you've got an itchy dog, you'll know this list. You've probably paid for most of it.
The vet visit. "Probably allergies." A steroid shot. Three good weeks. Then back to square one.
Apoquel, then Cytopoint. Calmer for a while. Then the scratching crept back and the dose went up. £60 a month, every month.
The hypoallergenic food. Grain-free. Salmon. Then the prescription one. Three bags later. Same paws.
Oatmeal shampoo, sprays, wipes. Soothing for an hour. Then nothing.
Skin chews, fish oil, probiotics. Shinier coat. Still up at 3am.
Every one of them calmed the reaction. Not one of them touched the trigger.
Because the trigger wasn't in her. It was in the thing she lay on for 14 hours a day.
